Dr Phil Mulvaney – Head of Strategic Projects, Institute of Technology Tallaght

    Dr. Phil Mulvaney is Head of Strategic Projects at the Institute of Technology Tallaght. Her role is to lead and work on designated strategic projects for the Institute, including the Institute’s Strategic Plan and HEA Performance Management  Reviews.  She is also engaged in a number of projects relating to the application of the Institute for Technological University designation – in partner with Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB).  Previously, Dr. Mulvaney was Head Department of Management at IT Tallaght, responsible for leading and managing the Department; providing academic leadership; achieving excellence in programme development and delivery;  building and strengthening links with industry; and managing the development and implementation of quality assurance.

     

    Dr. Mulvaney holds a PhD in Economics from Dublin City University (2004), a Masters Degree in Economics from NUI, Galway (1994), a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from NUI, Galway (1989), and a Higher Diploma in Education, also from NUI, Galway (1990). Her main publications, research and consultancy are in the area of industrial innovation and the economics of technological change and development.

    Dr. Mulvaney will speak about the role of Higher Education in advancing education and training in standards across key industry sectors. Higher Education, particularly Technical Universities, play a vital role in the development, dissemination and use of standards.
